After two and a half weeks of adventuring with our German friends Jonas and Julia, we sadly had say goodbye and drop them off at the airport today. We were so lucky to travel with great friends to some gorgeous places in Washington – which I’ll be recapping later on this month. Today I wanted to share our undisputed favorite part of our adventures – the beautiful wine country of Lake Chelan, Washington.
When we planned our trip months ago while Jeff and I were living in Germany, we had originally thought we’d end up going to Walla Walla – basically the Napa of Washington. Jeff’s parents suggested we instead check out Lake Chelan, and I am so happy we did. While I thought the wine tasting would be the highlight of our getaway, the gorgeous scenery was definitely the most amazing part. Everywhere you turned there was a view of the lake, of a vineyard lined rolling hill, or mountains. Our favorite place was Benson Winery who had the most breathtaking view of the lake (photo 3). Oh, and the wine was pretty good too.
One thing I wasn’t quite prepared for in Chelan was the hot weather. It was in the high 90’s and super dry. The thought of plunging into the lake was very appealing. I decided to wear my long sleeve lace romper despite the high temps, and I actually found it super comfortable. The sleeves and back are completely sheer which allowed for maximum air flow. The front laces up, and I wore a black lace bralet underneath which paired perfectly. I had originally planned to wear heeled booties, but traded them in for sandals. I do love booties in every season, but they are definitely uncomfortable in the hot heat!
